Survey for potential SCOOT Workshop on the rise of Citizen Science

Survey for potential SCOOT Workshop on the rise of Citizen Science

SCOOT wants to invite actors with a current or potential interest in Citizen Science. The purpose would be to 1) inform about what we believe is a paradigm shift in the acceptance of the value of data from Citizen Science, and 2) find a common platform or action for collaboration in this field. With this survey we scout who might be interested in joining such a workshop.

From a SCOOT perspective Citizen Science is first of all about getting data, and only secondly about ocean literacy and related topics. Our starting point is the EU Green Deal proposal OCTADA: Ocean Citizen Take Action for Data Acquisition, which we coordinated and submitted this January, together with SMHI and several partners in Europe. The core project idea is illustrated by the OCTADA stairway in the image above.
