Survey for potential SCOOT Workshop on the rise of Citizen Science Survey for potential SCOOT Workshop on the rise of Citizen Science SCOOT wants to invite actors with a current or potential interest in Citizen Science. The purpose would be to 1) inform about what we believe is a paradigm shift in the acceptance of the value of data from Citizen Science, and 2) find a common platform or action for collaboration in this field. With this survey we scout who might be interested in joining such a workshop. From a SCOOT perspective Citizen Science is first of all about getting data, and only secondly about ocean literacy and related topics. Our starting point is the EU Green Deal proposal OCTADA: Ocean Citizen Take Action for Data Acquisition, which we coordinated and submitted this January, together with SMHI and several partners in Europe. The core project idea is illustrated by the OCTADA stairway in the image above. Please answer the questions below and use the ‘Comments and suggestion’ field to elaborate. Citizen Science blends into a wider field of alternative and opportunistic data sources. Citizens’ groups and informal networks can tap into large resources and pools of expertise. Other, please specify in field further down. Participants: * Let us start with just a group of a handful of persons. A relatively wide group (10-20 persons) can start, but we limit it by invitation to people we belive will have an impact. We should invite as many as possible, you never know who has the best ideas. Length of meeting: * A shorter meeting should be enough for a start. A two hour webinar is a good start. At least a half day meeting is needed.
